Our BFL locks are known for their beautiful luster, wonderful curl, and versatility. They're perfect for needle felting, spinning, art batts, doll hair, beards, weaving, wet felting, locks projects, and other fiber arts.
Each selection is listed by the name of the sheep who grew the fleece, because every sheep produces wool with its own unique personality!
About Our Locks
Most of our white locks have an average staple length of approximately 6 inches unless otherwise noted. You'll find everything from small, defined curls to looser waves and locks with a soft, natural halo.
Although every fleece is washed and prepared using the same process, no two fleeces are exactly alike. Each sheep—and each fleece—will have its own unique:

Lock definition
Staple length
Texture
Luster
Character
Amount of natural halo or "fuzz"
Even locks from different areas of the same fleece can vary. That's the wonderful thing about working with real, farm-grown wool!

The photos are there to show you the actual character, curl, texture, lock definition, and amount of halo you can expect from that selection.
If your project requires a very particular type of lock—such as long locks for beards, tightly defined curls, minimal halo, doll hair, or a particular texture—please leave me a note in the comment section of your order telling me what you're making. I'll use that information when preparing your order whenever possible.
Because wool is a natural product, I cannot guarantee that every lock within an ounce will be identical.
